Happenings & News at Hunt Farm

2010 has been a Busy and Successful year here at Hunt Farm. As always we have been busy starting and backing a variety of horses and ponies! Along with the shows, breeding and the students!

The GHHJA Horse Shows that we put on and manage at Pine Hill in Bellville,Tx were well attended this past year and the addition of the 3rd weekend in June added to the fun!! In June we added a Margarita and hamburger party on Friday and everyone enjoyed the chance to be together while not competing! The series award for the three shows was well contested with it coming down to the last show for the placing! With Oaklawn Stables of Lufkin, Tx coming home with 3 of the 4 awards and Still Forest Farm coming home with the other trophy( a walnut trophy cabinet designed to hold and display Pine Hill’s cut glass stemware class trophy’s)

The dates for the shows in 2011 are April 30 & May 1, June 13 & 14, and October 29 & 30 with the annual Halloween Costume class

Sands of Time(leased by Caren Luckie) foaled a large dark bay colt by Fleetwood’s Bolero that will make someone a wonderful Adult hunter in a few years!! Sands of Time is now in California being bred to Redwine for Gray Fox Farms!!

In 2010 Caren Luckie has had the great fortune to be breeding ‘Hats Off To Hattie’ to her stallion Fleetwood‘s Bolero. ( Hattie is by Perrrel, Selle Francais, that stood at stud at Warioto in Tennessee. Perrel was imported as a weanling by Mrs. Winifred Jones where Ricky and I started him under saddle and over fences before he went on to Patty Hueckeroth’s and showed in the Regular Working Division before standing at stud). Hattie was a fabulous hunter for her owner Anne Raisner where she was Res Grand Champion at the International Hunter Futurity as a 3yr old and then later she and Anne were Champion and Res Champion in the Adult Hunter Divisions on the East Coast and Florida at the ‘A’ shows many times out. We anxiously waiting for this foal to come! And Thanks to Anne for a chance to breed to this wonderful mare!!!

Caren also had a fun time, successfully showing her yearling Fleetwood’s Time in the Hunter Breeding classes in the Texas area. Time brought home a Best Young Horse award from the Summer Circuit Horse Show in Austin, Tx in August showing against total of 11 2 and 3 yr olds!! And if Caren and Luckie Lady Farm where not busy enough , Caren stepped back in the show ring after a 2 year absence in Nov at the fall “A” show at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in the Mod/Adult Hunter Division with good ribbons in all classes with 25 in the division!! And 2011 looks to being busier with her daughter Sara and her pony Rosmel’s Sunny Daze joining us at some shows in the Walk-Trot Division!

Fleetwood’s Derby, 2 yr old by Fleetwood’s Bolero ended up being THJA Year End award winner as well as Zone 7 year end award winner for 2010 in the 2 yr old Hunter Breeding Division for owner Felicia Carroll !! Congrats to Felicia! Derby has been started under saddle and looks to be Felicia’s next candidate for the Adult / Amateur Hunter.

Melanie McGinley and Anything But Ordinary (her 6 yr old gelding out of her very successful A/O jumper mare Isabella‘s Leap Of Faith) are looking forward to going to some jumper classes this year. They have been working hard and are ready to see what ‘Ben’ can do!

Debby Gaffey and Zarreaux have been getting good ribbons in the Mod/Adult Divisions at the ‘A’ shows but are eager to step up to the Adult Hunter and Pre-Green Divisions this year!

The Hodde Family have been very busy with Debbie’s quarter horses in the Hunter Under Saddle at the AQHA shows. She as the owner/breeder/rider of many top horses concluded 2010 with 2 3rd places at AQHA World’s Horse Show with the mare Blue Couture. Debbe has been having a good time crossing over into the hunter shows with some of her horses; which only goes to show the versatility and ability of her horses! Carsyn Hodde has found a great partner in First Issue; her large pony. They started the year in the Beginner Division and will be moving up a division this year! Her momma is going to have a top jockey for all those great foals she has!

Mary Godfrey has joined us at several shows with her new partner Jazzman. After a 30 year break from showing Mary is back in a big way showing in the Mod/Adult division with Jazzman and in the hunter breeding with Charlotte (3rd in THJA year end Yearling Breeding Div). Mary has several nice young horses for sale at her Trianga Farms( she has several on You Tube) Her mare Rivating Detail had a gorgeous filly by Jones Hall that Mary liked so much she bred her back to Jones Hall and she is due the first of May!

Congratulations to Glenhill Farm and Genevieve Ghillotti! Her first foal for 2011 is a Jones Hall foal and what a stunner!! We are so proud and happy that Jones Hall is in California and at such a nice place!
